Learning Strategies 15, 25, 35:

This class is designed to support academic achievement by studying and practicing diverse learning strategies. Students are encouraged to become the drivers of their educational journey, to become accountable for their learning and to take increased responsibility to plan, monitor, and evaluate their academic progress. Programming includes developing an understanding of the self, enhancing organization, developing achievable short and long term goals, and practicing time management skills. Complemented with the academic courses, the Learning Strategies course emphasizes the importance of developing a routine to be successful.

Key focus areas include:

  • study strategies and effective focus
  • avoiding procrastination
  • using the Pomodoro technique
  • test-taking strategies 
  • stress and anxiety management 
  • mindfulness of the ‘big picture’
  • employment opportunities post high school and long term planning
